Hello, how are you doing? Hope everything is going well. This will be a short and sweet post. I work as a nurse, and on an afternoon shift, one of my work colleagues was very excited and talking to everyone about the holiday she has planned out over the weekend. Holidays are good of course, and I get the excitement of getting one. I recently had one few months back too. But yh, my colleague was excited, as I was too. Planned everything, told everyone about how she was going on a road trip with her family and how they will be camping at their destination. The camp site was booked, the four-wheel drive was checked in to go. Days after, she came back from the holiday. A lady approached my colleague at work and asked her about how the holiday went. She stated that it went good and bad. The good being she went for a holiday and camped. The bad being that she got into an accident, which on another day could have gone very bad. The lady told us that her car, attached to the caravan had turned twice into a ditch, with her in it. The caravan was written off but thank God for her life. I don’t know if the lady is religious or not, but I picked out an observation from her situation. I thought to myself, we plan a lot of things ahead, without putting God as the centre of the plan. We plan for the future, we plan for tomorrow, we also plan like everything will happen just because of our ability to make them happen. We forget to put God first in everything. But whenever something goes wrong, we seek God first. Why don’t we just put God first at the very beginning. I am not saying putting God first will mean everything will go well with no issues, but I know putting God first will mean that God will take control of every situation. I am guilty of this a well. Planning, thinking I have everything under my control, not until something goes wrong and I return back to my Lord and Saviour. Without God we are nothing.
Here are some Bible verses about putting God first in everything.
Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Matthew 6: 19-21: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Proverbs 3: 5-6: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Psalms 37:4: Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
1 Chronicles 16:11: Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.
Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Proverbs 19:21: There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
James 4: 13-15: Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Romans 8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
