Carnal Man: An Enemy of God

·

,

The dictionary meaning of carnality means feeling morbid sexual desire or a propensity to lewdness. Other names for carnality includes lasciviousness, lubricity, animal, fleshly, and sensual. I listened to a sermon once. The preacher describes carnal as devouring your flesh. He further explained and said the word carnivorous which means flesh-eating was derived from carnal. Everything a carnal person does is always done to glorify and satisfy their flesh.

As a Christian, we are instructed several times in the Bible to not give a room in any case to please the flesh. Our flesh is our enemy, and is always fighting to take us away from the Lord. Why do you think everything is so lewd and sexual nowadays? People inheriting hate God, and a society that has decided to hate the things of God and become evil will always amplify the things God has told us to stay away from. As humans, we always want to indulge with the pleasures of this world. We always want to feel good. People want a lot of sex because they want pleasures. People want to have a lot of fun because they want to satisfy their pleasures. People want to do drugs because they feel good when they do drugs. But as Christians, we know these things are not good, and don’t last forever. People will always want more because they are not satisfy. A carnal man will never be filled. They will always want more. What is enough for a carnal man? “just a little bit more”. Nothing will ever be enough. But, good things from God always last forever. This is what makes a true Born-again Christian different from none-Christians (A carnal person).

Here are some Bible verses on carnality.

1 Corinthians 3: 1-3: 1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Romans 8: 6-8:  6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

1 Corinthians 2: 14-16: 14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 15: 33: 33Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

Leviticus 18: 20: 20Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, to defile thyself with her.

Romans 7:14: 14For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

1 Corinthians 9: 11-12: 11If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? 12If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
