What’s good? Hope everyone is good, it’s 2 day of 2024 and it’s been so far so good. All Glory to God. That is a lot of good in a sentence if I say so myself.

What is good? Well, since everyone nowadays claims to be a good person, don’t you know what you are? I have spoken to a lot of so called good people, and asked them the reason why they think they are good people. There response is always “I am a good person because I treat people nicely and I don’t hurt anyone”. Well, my response is always along the line that “That’s fair, but what is good?”

From my general belief of what good is, good is the opposite of bad. I know that is not a definition, but we getting somewhere here. Since good is the opposite of bad, then for something to be good, there must not be any form of “bad” in it at all. Alright good fellow, have you ever told a lie in your life? Stole something? Hated someone? Fight?. This are bad things according to the human nature, no matter the cultural background you are from. More so, in our government legal systems , you steal, there is a high chance that you end up in jail. So what am trying to say here is that we humans are not good at all. We all have some bad in us.

For something to be good, there must not be a bad in it at all.

Sad to be the one to break it to you, no one is good. Your favourite influencer that does all the “good things in the world” is not good. Only God is good. We are all wicked, full of pride, lustful to one and other, enviers, sensual people, adulaters, full of sexual fantasies and desires, liars, whoremongers. But still, we still claim to be good. No one is good. Not me, not you. Only God is good.

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.

If Jesus Himself who is righteous enough to bore our sins says that only God is good, why do we get too ahead of ourselves then? I guess is the pride of life in us. Well, there is no conclusion to this. We are all sinners who are bad people and need to repent from our wicked ways, and accept the hope provided by the Only Good One. That hope is Jesus Christ.
